A family shop since 1967, found online.
Mahindra Departmental Store has sold cookware, crockery and home appliances in a South Delhi market since August 1967, run by the same family for three generations. It had a loyal neighbourhood following and almost no presence online. We took it online without changing a thing about how the shop works.
- Website + Google profile + local search
- Step one of "at your pace": get found
Where it started
A strong shop that was hard to find.
Like many family businesses, the shop's reputation lived in the market and in regular customers' memories. Online, the picture was patchy.
- No website
- The shop's own domain served nothing, so the website link on its Google profile led nowhere.
- The wrong Google category
- The profile was listed as a generic department store, so it rarely showed up when people searched for kitchenware or crockery nearby.
- A lost selling point
- Google had silently replaced "same-day delivery" with an unrelated option, hiding one of the shop's real strengths.
- Mixed facts across the web
- Directories disagreed on when the shop opened (1962, 1967, 1970), and a complaint had been answered with a pasted thank-you note.
What we did
Get found first. Change nothing in the shop.
The first step for most family businesses is simply being easy to find and easy to contact. That is where we started.
A website that sells the visit, not a cart
A fast, single-page site built around what customers ask before they come in: what's stocked, gifting, hours, same-day delivery. Not e-commerce. Every enquiry goes to the shop's WhatsApp.
Google Business Profile, fixed and kept current
The right primary category (kitchen supply shop) and secondary ones, same-day delivery restored, the founding date settled at August 1967 with the family, and every change logged.
Honest replies to reviews
The reply to a critical review was rewritten to actually answer it, and the newest reviews answered personally.
One set of facts everywhere
A clean-up plan to make the name, hours and founding year match across every directory, with ready-to-send correction requests.
Photography
A professional shoot of the shop and its range, prepared for the website and paced uploads to the Google profile.
Seasonal and gifting pushes
Festive posts for Rakhi and Diwali, and a plan for corporate and wedding gifting, the shop's highest-value orders.
What comes next
The next steps, when the shop is ready.
With the shop found online, the natural next steps are semi-digital ones: a simple customer list for festive and gifting offers, and a way to manage corporate and wedding gifting orders. Each will be added only when it earns its place. How going digital at your pace works →
About this project
Did the shop have to change how it works?
No. The shop runs exactly as before. The website and Google profile simply bring the enquiries to the counter and to WhatsApp. It's the "get found" step: online, without changing the shop.
Why not an online store with a cart?
Because the shop's customers want to see and handle crockery before buying, and its strength is advice, gifting and same-day delivery. A cart would have added cost without adding sales. We build what fits the business.
Is this a real client?
Yes, and in the interest of honesty: it is our founder's family's shop, trading since 1967. It is the business Karyo's way of working was first tried on.
