Digital transformation for family business
Digital transformation for family businesses, at the pace your family sets.
Your business has run well for decades on registers, trust and the knowledge of the people who built it. Karyo moves it onto software one step at a time, without disrupting staff who have worked with you for twenty years and without giving up Tally.
- Start with one part of the business

Why families hesitate
The business works. The worry is what happens next.
A family business carries decades of knowledge that is written nowhere. Which customer gets which rate. Who always pays, and who needs a reminder. Which supplier is reliable in the wedding season. It sits in the bahi-khata, in a cupboard of registers, and in the memory of the person at the head of the gaddi.
The next generation wants systems: numbers on a phone and records they can search. The elders worry, rightly, that a new computer will confuse loyal staff and lose old accounts. Both are right.
We respect how your business runs, and move it to software at the pace your family is comfortable with.
How we work with families
Moving from bahi-khata and registers to software, gently.
Software for a traditional business only works if the people who run it trust it, so we begin by listening to the owner, the next generation and the staff who write the registers.
- Start small
- One part first, usually billing, stock or customer follow-ups. Everything else stays on paper or Excel.
- Respect for long-serving staff
- Screens use the words your staff already use, and each person sees only what their job needs.
- Training in Hindi and English
- At your shop or office, on the job each person already does, until they are comfortable.
- Paper and system side by side
- The register keeps running during the move. It closes only when the family decides the system can be trusted.
- Tally stays
- Your books and your accountant do not change. Entries are posted to Tally in the format they already use.
- The family decides
- Who sees what, who approves what, and when to take the next step.
Where most family businesses start
Four first steps that pay for themselves quickly.
Each stands on its own and connects to the next when you are ready. See how a family shop trading since 1967 took the first step →
A website and Google listing
People search before they visit, even for a shop their parents used. A website and Google listing bring enquiries to your inbox; nothing inside changes.
Billing
GST bills saved against each party, with sales posted to Tally. Usually the first thing staff learn.
Stock
What is in the shop, the godown and on order, without walking to check. Reorder alerts before you run short in the busy season.
Customer follow-ups
Dues, repeat orders and festival offers sent on WhatsApp Business, so a loyal customer is never forgotten because someone was busy.
At your pace
Three levels, and your family chooses how far to go.
This is the idea at the heart of Karyo. Read more about going digital at your own pace.
Online, without changing anything inside
A website, Google listing and enquiries reaching your inbox. The gaddi, the registers and the way the business runs stay exactly as they are.
Fix the part that hurts most
Billing, stock or follow-ups move onto a simple system the staff learn on the job. The rest stays on paper or Excel, and the register runs alongside.
The whole business on one system
Sales, purchase, stock, staff and branches in one CRM or ERP linked to Tally, with the owner's view on a phone. The family's knowledge lives in the system, not in one person's memory.
What the next generation gets
A business they can see, search and run from anywhere.
Succession is easier when the records travel with the business.
The owner's view on a phone
Today's sales, collections, stock and dues, for every shop or branch, wherever you are.
Every record searchable
Any party, any bill, any rate, any year, found in seconds instead of a search through old registers.
No single person holds the knowledge
Rates, terms, payment habits and supplier history are recorded, so the business does not depend on one memory.
How it’s delivered
Built with your family, then kept running.
The same five stages as every Karyo project, paced to suit the business.
| Stage | What happens | What you receive |
|---|---|---|
| 01 · Discover | We sit with the owner, the next generation and the staff, and see how the registers are kept today. | A written proposal and fixed quote within 3 working days. |
| 02 · Design | Screens designed in the words your business already uses. | A clickable prototype the family can try before anything is built. |
| 03 · Build | Short cycles on a private staging link you can open any time. | A working demo every two weeks. |
| 04 · Launch | Balances, parties, rates and stock migrated from registers and Excel; staff trained on the job, in English and Hindi; paper runs alongside. | A live system and confident staff. |
| 05 · Manage | Hosting, daily backups, security updates and support under an annual maintenance contract. | A monthly change allowance for the next small improvement. |
A website takes 3 to 5 weeks; a full CRM or ERP 2 to 4 months. Karyo is built by TUD Innovations, the company behind Kenro, automotive software proven on a working workshop floor and running in production at a Delhi pre-owned showroom.

Digitising a family business: common questions
How do you digitise a family business without disrupting it?
We start with the one part that costs the most time or money and leave the rest as it is. Paper and system run side by side until the family is confident.
Our staff have used registers for twenty years. Will they manage?
Yes. Screens follow the job each person already does, in the words they already use, and we train them on the job in Hindi and English.
Do we have to give up Tally?
No. Tally stays your books and your accountant keeps working as before. The system posts entries to Tally in the format your accountant already uses.
Can you move our old bahi-khata and registers into the system?
Yes. Party balances, customer lists, rates and stock are entered from your registers and Excel before launch, and checked against the books with you.
Who in the family controls what?
You decide. Access is set by role: the owner sees everything, the next generation can run purchase or a branch, and staff see only what their work needs.
How does this help with succession?
What lives in one person's memory today, which customer gets which rate, who pays late, which supplier is reliable, is recorded and searchable. The next generation inherits a business they can see.
How is it priced?
A fixed build fee paid in stages, quoted in writing within 3 working days of our first conversation, and an annual maintenance contract for hosting, backups and support. Never per user.
